Metal Eden is an adrenaline-fueled sci-fi FPS announced during the latest PlayStation State of Play, set to release on May 6, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Developed by Reikon Games, the studio behind the underrated shooter Ruiner, Metal Eden promises fast-paced action and strategic combat.

Setting and Story
The game takes place in a future where humanity has colonized other star systems using Cores, systems that store human data and rebuild it upon arrival. Players assume the role of Aska, an android created by Nexus, one of the founders of the artificial city Moebius on the planet Vulcan. Aska's mission is to follow orders and potentially save inanimate colonists trapped in the Citadel.
Core-Ripping Mechanic
One of the standout features of Metal Eden is the Core-Ripping mechanic. This allows Aska to use a Multitool equipped with a Gravity Beam to extract Cores from enemies. Once extracted, the Core can be thrown at enemies to create an explosion or consumed to enhance Aska's abilities, such as melee attacks, mobility, or survivability.
Gameplay and Progression
- Exploration and Combat: Players will explore Moebius, engaging in fast-paced combat that combines parkour with strategic Core Ripping.
- Drones and Body Modules: Hacking drones provides Body Modules, which can empower Aska's Core, offering potent options to turn the tide of battle. This progression system allows players to tailor their experience.
- Core Ripping Execution: The ability requires a charged meter and can only be used on unarmored enemies. Players must destroy armor with energy weapons, position themselves correctly, and execute the Core Rip at the right moment.
Strategic Play and Creativity
The Core-Ripping mechanic offers endless possibilities for creative and strategic play, allowing players to glide, dash, wall-run, and weave through enemy attacks while taking them down quickly and effectively. This mechanic enhances the game's fast-paced action, making Metal Eden a thrilling sci-fi FPS experience.
